Budget Collector at US PTO Event Featuring Founders at SoftBank, MoviePass, Blavity…And More!
I’m excited to share that I’m a featured speaker at the US Patent and Trademark Office on February 24th. Thanks to our pro-bono patent attorney Zachary Pratt at Fredrikson and Byron, PA, Budget Collector was recently able to submit our patent application last month.
When I first saw Zach’s draft, I thought, “Wow, he took our little idea and made it a beautiful magnum opus!” So without his volunteering to help, I am sure I wouldn’t have had such a fantastic opportunity.
Anyways, the event is called “2022 Black Innovation and Entrepreneurship program,” and it is two days featuring the following speakers:
Robin Evans
Deputy Commissioner for Patents, USPTO
James Howard
Executive Director, Black Inventors Hall of Fame
James Wilson
Assistant Regional Director
Elijah J. McCoy Midwest Regional Office, USPTO
Stacy Brown-Philpot
Founding member, SoftBank's Opportunity Fund, former CEO, TaskRabbit, investor, advisor
Morgan DeBaun
Founder and CEO, Blavity Inc.
Stacy Spikes
Founder and CEO, Urbanworld Film Festival & PreShow, Co-Founder, MoviePass
Alford Kindred
Supervisory Patent Examiner, Technology Center 2100, USPTO
I’m hopeful that I will be able to share the benefits of working with a patent attorney before formally considering to fundraise. I also would like to talk about the benefits of using Legal Corps or other similar services to patent your idea the right way, even if your budget is severely limited.
